Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® Announces Tramon and Shantrell Williams as 2012 Honorary Race Chairs

November 15, 2011

MILWAUKEE —The Southeast Wisconsin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is delighted to announce Green Bay Packers cornerback, Tramon Williams, and his wife, Shantrell, as honorary race chairs for the 14th annual Race for the Cure®.

The Williams will serve as advocates for the race, raising awareness, participation and donations. The Tramon Williams 38 Reasons Foundation will also donate $1,000 per interception or pass break-up by Tramon through his entire tenure with the Green Bay Packers to Susan G. Komen for the Cure following the 2011/2012 NFL season.

“We are thrilled to welcome Tramon and Shantrell Williams to the race this year,” said Wendy Carlson, Race co-chair and breast cancer survivor. “We look forward to seeing the Williams at race-related events. But, more importantly, we look forward to working with the Williams to bring awareness to this important cause.”

The Race will commence at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012 outside the Milwaukee Art Museum.

Up to 75 percent of the Race’s earnings directly funds grants to local hospitals and community organizations that provide breast health education, breast cancer screening and access to treatment programs for uninsured and under-insured women in Southeast Wisconsin. The remaining earnings support the national Komen Grants Program, which funds ground-breaking breast cancer research, noble awards and educational and scientific programs around the world.
