The Green Bay Packers have had some great defensive backs come through their building over the years.

Herb Adderley, Bobby Dillon, Willie Wood, and Charles Woodson were all game-changing Hall-of-Fame players that crossed through Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Also, there were other franchise legends that didn’t necessarily have a Pro Football Hall of Fame portfolio but still put fear in the hearts of opponents. Al Harris, Nick Collins, and Sam Shields were all great players.

One player in particular from that category who deserves more credit for the impact he made in the Green and Gold is Tramon Williams. Excuse me, the undrafted Tramon Williams.

The hard-working, 15-year veteran spent parts of 12 different seasons in Green Bay, which came across three different stints. The former Louisiana Tech star finished eighth in Packers history with 30 interceptions.

His 2010 postseason was one for the record books as he recorded three interceptions, including his 70-yard pick-six against the Atlanta Falcons in the divisional round.

He was a key piece of the Super Bowl defense in 2010 that helped bring the Lombardi Trophy home.

The former Pro Bowler recorded almost 560 tackles, over 460 solo tackles, and 125 passes defensed in his time in Green Bay (2006-14, 2018-20). He is also tied for seventh in NFL history in passes defensed with 153.

Williams was an elite athlete (37.5-inch vertical leap) and clearly had fantastic coverage skills (10+ passes defensed in nine of 15 career seasons).

Not many undrafted players go on to play 15 seasons in the NFL. Williams fought his way onto Green Bay’s 53-man roster in 2007 after being scooped up on to the practice squad in 2006.

He never looked back.

That is a testament to the work ethic and durability that Tramon Williams put forth every single day on Lombardi Avenue. Anyone who plays over a decade on defense in the National Football League knows how difficult it is.

Playing with one team for over a decade on defense is even more difficult.

Williams was able to master that, which is why he belongs in the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame forever.
